Minecraft is one of the most well known games, currently having over 300 million sales, making it the best selling game by almost 100 million sales. It's a game where you are free to go where you want, build what you want, play how you want, so it was able to sell so well.

Minecraft has been developed for the past 15 years by Mojang. It's largely thanks to them the game was able to reach it's full potential. Their inclusion of the community in each update, releasing "early access" builds called snapshots, allowed the game to become as stable as it is now.

While it has had it's fair share of controversy, most people are willing to look past that. Whether it be the Microsoft acquisition, the change in monetization, the account migration, people are willing to look past these to play what is one of the greatest games to this date.
